Jesus is "I AM"
Have you ever wondered what Jesus meant when He said "I am"? This very statement was a declaration of His claim to being the Messiah. It was not greatly accepted as one might think. Yet it is by far a very powerful one. Let's take a few moments and look at what His claim to being I am entailed.
His Words declared He has the power over life:
John 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.
His words declare He has the power to keep us from the evils of this world:
John 8:12 Then spoke Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world; he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
His words declare He is the way into Heaven:
John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
His words declare He is the sacrifice God accepts for our salvation:
John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
His words declare He is our hope:
John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
His words declare He is the only way the Father accepts:
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
His words declare He is the giver of life:
John 15:1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
As you have noticed in each of these verses Jesus stated the words "I am" This is a name that is attributed to God alone, the conclusion we must come to is Jesus is declaring He is God. This is a great thing for the believer to be assured in. Jesus, our savior is God in the flesh.
Exodus 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
